My drill comparison showed many drills are now listed as drill drivers instead of just a cordless drill. Cordless drivers have a clutch. The clutch controls the amount of torque applied. When the preset resistance has been reached It disengages the drill driver's drive shaft making a clicking sound. By setting the clutch correctly you won't strip a screw or overdrive it once it's snug. So its important to pay attention to the clutch settings so you are able to take advantage of clutch and not strip the screws. Why is this important? If you have a relatively new PC the only problem you will get are error messages relating to the clock on start up. No big deal. If your PC is older then a low battery could be a nightmare. I had a PC which once li ion stock every few months refused to boot. If your cordless tools were acquired a long time ago, the battery and charger were of an older technology. The new generation batteries are more efficient and can be charged very quickly. That can be a slight problem with the older charger. The newer chargers have a smart sensing circuit that will cut down Lithium mines Ontario the charge rate as the battery is close to getting full. But for older chargers that do not have such smart circuits, they can overcharge the battery, making it hot when it's left on the charger for extended amount of time. So it's worth the time to investigate if a newer type of charger should be in order when getting a new replacement battery.
Memory effect will reduce the life of a battery. Modern Lithium-ion batteries do not suffer from memory effect, although it does occur in Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) units when charged from levels other than 0% of battery capacity. If the (NiMH) unit was fully charged when initially at say 20% capacity, the resulting available capacity would only be 80% of the factory original. Of course every time you charged the battery, the total available capacity would reduce and eventually your mobile phone would prove to be increasingly useless. Nearly all new electronic devices are now powered by Lithium batteries. You should always condition your (NiMH) battery from new.
